There's probably another one with more cards that's better. Including non-retro, the Yu-Gi-Oh game I've enjoyed most is WCT2006. I'd guess that at least one of the Monster Capsule games is better than Forbidden Memories, but I haven't played either of them(both are JP only). Some of the other retro Yu-Gi-Oh games seem to be pretty similar to Forbidden Memories so I haven't tried them. Sure you can eat it, but at least put some spices on it or some shit. Playing this game is like if you asked for french fries and the chef dug a potato out of the ground and dropped it on your plate. There are no monster effects to worry about and usually no tricky spell or trap card effects(the few there are just destroy monsters). The game's biggest problem is that 99% of the time you're just optimizing for highest ATK. The AI is dumb as shit and cheats, on top of using overpowered cards which you can't even obtain. The drop system is impossibly unintuitive and a huge grind, you're basically required to use a guide if you ever want to see Widespread Ruin, Megamorph, MBD, or any other card which is actually useful. Even then, the best strategy is to fuse THTD as much as possible.
